Answer: Clear, trustworthy content that genuinely answers the question. Google says its AI features are rooted in its core Search ranking and quality systems, and you don't need AI text files, special markup or schema. It ignores llms.txt-style files. Helpful, people-first content is the foundation.
Answer: Matching what the searcher actually wants, with genuinely useful content. Search is built around intent. Keyword stuffing and bought links break Google's spam policies and can do real harm.
Answer: 2.5 seconds or less. Google's targets are 2.5 seconds or less for loading (LCP), 200 milliseconds or less for responsiveness (INP) and 0.1 or less for layout shift (CLS), measured so that at least three in four real visits meet them.
Answer: Named authors, real experience and clear About details. Google's people-first content guidance looks for experience, expertise, authoritativeness and trust (E-E-A-T): real people, real experience and clear sources.
Answer: Clear headings, each with a direct answer underneath. Google recommends headings that give a page clear structure and says to keep important content as text. The Princeton-led GEO study found clear, quotable facts (statistics, quotes and sources) made pages up to 40% more visible in AI answers. You don't need to chop pages into tiny pieces: Google says it can find the right part of a longer page.
Answer: Yes, real FAQs still help people and are easy to find and quote. Google stopped showing the FAQ rich result on 7 May 2026. Genuine questions with clear, direct answers still help your readers, and they are easy for search and AI to find.
Answer: Reviews, trusted sites and community discussions that talk about you. Ahrefs' study of 75,000 brands (updated 2026) found brand mentions across the web track AI visibility far more closely than page counts. And a mention isn't always a citation: AI answers often name a brand but link to a review site or forum instead. Google adds that inauthentic mentions aren't as helpful as they seem.
